Front Door Wind Noise

AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:
Range Rover Evoque (LV) VIN: CH600001 - CH616767
Model Year: 2012

CONDITION SUMMARY:

Situation:

A wind noise may be heard from the front doors when traveling above 60 mph. This may be caused by the aero seal not contacting the outer waist seal.

Action:

In the event of a customer concern of the above, refer to the Repair Procedure outlined below to replace the front door(s) outer waist seal(s).

DDW requires the use of causal part numbers. Labor only claims must show the causal part number with a quantity of zero.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

REPLACE FRONT DOOR OUTER WAIST SEAL

NOTE:
Note the fitted position of the component prior to removal.





1. Remove the front door outer waist seal: (Figure 1)

^ Remove the Torx bolt.

^ Carefully release the front door outer waist seal.

NOTE:
If the vehicle has a plastic insert installed to locate the wind noise seal, remove this prior to removing the wind noise seal.

NOTE:
If the vehicle has a small deformation in the wind noise seal channel to locate the wind noise seal, carefully open the channel at the deformed point prior to removing the wind noise seal.





2. Remove the wind noise seal from the front door outer waist seal: (Figure 2)

^ Compress the foam pad.

^ Slide out the wind noise seal.

CAUTION
Five door models only.

NOTE:
If the vehicle is a Five door model, the new wind noise seal must be cut to the correct length.





3. Using a suitable tool, cut the new wind noise seal to a length of 742 mm. (Figure 3)





4. Install the new wind noise seal: (Figure 4)

^ Compress the foam pad.

^ Slide the wind noise seal in to the waist seal and locate the wind noise seal 14 mm from the end of the waist seal.

^ If required, install the plastic insert to locate the wind noise seal.

^ If required, carefully deform the wind noise seal channel to locate the wind noise seal.

5. To install, reverse step 1.

^ Carefully install the front door outer waist seal.

^ Tighten the Torx bolt to 1 Nm.

6. If necessary, repeat steps 1 - 5 to the opposite front door.
