SUBJECT: SERVICE ACTION: LUGGAGE TRAY ASSEMBLY KIT INSTALLATION (SA 130)

This bulletin provides information relating to the missing luggage tray assembly in some 2013MY Rio vehicles produced from June 11, 2012 to September 6, 2012. To correct this issue, installation of the luggage Tray Assembly Kit will be required for all affected units. Kia is requesting the completion of this Service Action on all affected Rio vehicles in dealer stock prior to delivery. Before conducting the procedure, verify that the vehicle is included in the list of affected VINs.





*NOTICE
A Service Action is a repair program without customer notification that is performed during the warranty period. Any dealer requesting to perform this repair outside the warranty period will require DPSM approval. Repair status for a VIN is provided on WebDCS (Service> Warranty Coverage> Warranty Coverage Inquiry> Campaign Information). Not completed Recall / Service Action reports are available on WebDCS (Consumer Affairs> Not Completed Recall> Recall VIN> Select Report), which includes a list of affected vehicles.

This issue number is SA130.

Service Procedure:





1. Open rear hatch to gain access to cargo area.





2. Remove the carpet floor mat.





3. Unscrew the plastic fastener (A) to remove the current TMK kit rectangular foam storage box.





4. Insert the new foam storage tray into the well.

*NOTICE
The foam storage tray must first be installed before continuing with this procedure.





5. Fold both rear seatbacks forward and insert the new luggage floor box trim into the rear cargo area through the rear passenger door.

CAUTION
Take care to ensure that you do not scratch or damage components when inserting the luggage floor box trim through the rear passenger door.





6. Ensure that the three (3) rear latch anchors (shown in photo) are unobstructed before securing trim with screws.

Secure the new luggage floor box trim in place using four (4) screws.





7. Remove the original parts: tow hook, TMK air compressor, and sealant from the rectangle foam storage tray and install into the new TMK foam storage tray.

*NOTICE
Dispose of the original rectangle foam storage box and carpet floor mat in accordance with applicable local, state and federal regulations.





8. Install the new luggage covering mat (hard type) as shown in the image.

9. Securely latch rear seatbacks in the upright position.





10. Install the cargo net in the storage area on the left-hand side (arrow) of the cargo area.
