Evaporative Emission Control Canister: Service and Repair





Removal

[Canister]
1. Disconnect the vacuum hoses (A) and the vacuum tube quick-connector (B).




2. Unscrew the canister mounting bolts (A) and nut (B), and then remove the canister (C) from the vehicle.




[Auxiliary Canister - 2.4 DOHC SULEV only]
1. Disconnect the vacuum hoses (A).
2. Remove the auxiliary canister (B) after removing the mounting bolts.






Inspection

1. Check for the following items visually.
A. Cracks or leakage of the canister
B. Loose connection, distortion, or damage of the vapor hose/tube




A: Canister <-> Atmosphere (via Fuel Tank Air Filter)
B: Canister <-> Intake Manifold
C: Canister <-> Fuel Tank

Installation

Installation is reverse of removal.
