Campaign SA118 - Outside Mirror Gap Repair

COMBINED TSB / SERVICE ACTION: RIO (UB) OUTSIDE MIRROR COVER GAP REPAIR (SA118)

This bulletin provides information relating to some Rio (UB) vehicles produced from Job #1 to November 27, 2011 that may exhibit a gap between the outside mirror cover and the mirror body. Kia is requesting the completion of this Service Action on all affected Rio vehicles in dealer stock prior to delivery. Before conducting the procedure, verify that the vehicle is included in the list of the affected VINs.

For vehicles not on the Affected Vehicles List, but with a customer concern related to the mirror gap, perform the following procedure outlined in this bulletin and submit a warranty claim per "customer concern" (Standard TSB) claim information.





*NOTICE
A Service Action is a repair program without customer notification that is performed during the warranty period. Any dealer requesting to perform this repair outside the warranty period will require DPSM approval.

Repair status for a VIN is provided on WebDCS (Service> Warranty Coverage> Warranty Coverage Inquiry> Campaign Information). Not completed Recall / Service Action reports are available on WebDCS (Consumer Affairs> Not Completed Recall> Recall VIN> Select Report), which includes a list of affected vehicles.

This issue number is SA118.

Service Procedure:





1. Locate both outside mirror covers as indicated by the arrows and check for gap if correct (see photo in step # 3) no further action is necessary. If gap is incorrect, proceed to step 2.





2. Push mirror covers together firmly as shown in the photo to correct excessive gap.

*NOTICE
Use sufficient force to ensure cover is fully seated and does not "spring" back.





3. Confirm gap is corrected. Photo above shows properly installed mirror covers.

WARRANTY CLAIM INFORMATION:

Use this information only to file a warranty claim for vehicles for which:

1. A customer complains of the same concern.

2. The VIN does not appear on the Affected Vehicles List for Service Action SA118.

3. The vehicle model year and production date range are as identified in this bulletin.

*NOTICE
VIN inquiry data for this repair is provided for tracking purposes only. Kia retailers should reference SA118 when accessing the WebDCS system.
