PCSV INSPECTION AND REPLACEMENT (SA142)





This bulletin provides the procedure to inspect and, if necessary, replace the PCSV (purge control solenoid valve) on some 2012MY Optima Hybrid vehicles produced from September 18, 2012 to November 18, 2012. Kia is requesting the completion of this Service Action on all affected vehicles in dealer stock prior to delivery. Before conducting the procedure, verify the vehicle is included in the list of affected VINs.

Inspection Procedure:





1. Open the hood and remove the engine cover (A).





2. Locate the PCSV (B) and use a telescoping mirror (C) to inspect the number embossed on the underside of the valve.





3. If the number on the underside of the PCSV is "2" replace the valve per the procedure outlined in this TSB If not, no further action is required.

Service Procedure:





1. Disconnect the air inake hose (A) from the duct (B) and remove the air cleaner cover (C).





2. Disconnect the PCSV connector (D) and remove the vapor hoses (E) from the PCSV (F).

2a. Replace the PCSV (F) with the new part.

3 Reinstall all removed components by reversing the order of removal.

4. Start the engine and check for (no) MIL on and for proper operation.
