Terminal and Connector Inspection
1. Perform a visual check of the Electrical systems including the harness connectors and check for corrosion and deformation.plus poor terminals fit.
2. Poor connections can be checked by monitoring signals in current data while moving and lightly pulling on the harness and connectors.
3. Monitoring a DVOM on min/max or the VMI while wiggling connectors may help find the problem.
4. Has a problem been found?
Power Circuit Inspection
Check power in harness
1. Ignition "OFF".
2. Disconnect Stop Lamp Switch harness connector.
3. Ignition "ON".
4. Measure Voltage between Power terminal of Stop Lamp Switch harness connector and chassis ground.
Specification :B +.
5. Is the measured Voltage within specifications?
Signal Circuit Inspection
Check short to ground in harness
1. Ignition "OFF".
2. Disconnect Stop Lamp Switch and Stop Lamp Relay and HCU main harness connector.
3. Measure resistance between Signal terminal of HCU harness connector and chassis ground.
Specification :Infinity
4. Is the measured resistance within specifications?
Check for open in harness
1. Ignition "OFF"
2. Disconnect Stop Lamp Switch and Stop Lamp Relay and HCU main harness connector.
3. Measure resistance between NO terminal of Stop Lamp Switch harness connector and NO terminal of HCU harness connector.
4. Measure resistance between NC terminal of Stop Lamp Switch harness connector and NC terminal of HCU harness connector.
Specification :below 1Ohms
5. Is the measured resistance within specifications?
