W/Harness Inspection

Motor Driven Power Steering
C1612 CAN Time-out TCM - Inspection/Repair:_:W/Harness Inspection

Terminal and Connector Inspection

1. Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness and terminals.
Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage
2. Thoroughly check all connectors (and connections) for looseness, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, and/or damage.
3. Has a problem been found ?

CAN Communication line check

CAN Communication check
1. Connect all kinds of modules related to CAN communication.
2. IG KEY "ON" or Engine "ON"
3. Measure signal waveform between terminal C-CAN-HIGH of cluster module harness connector and chassis ground.
4. Measure signal waveform between terminal C-CAN-LOW of cluster module harness connector and chassis ground.

Specification :Refer to the below signal waveform

5. Are the measured signal waveforms OK?

CAN communication circuit inspection (EPS <-> TCU)
1. Ignition "OFF"
2. Disconnect EPS(MDPS)ECU connector and TCU connector
3. Measure the resistance between CAN-HIGH terminal of EPS(MDPS)ECU harness connector and CAN-HIGH terminal of TCU harness connector.
4. Measure the resistance between CAN-LOW terminal of EPS(MDPS)ECU harness connector and CAN-LOW terminal of TCU harness connector.

Specification :below 1Ohms

5. Is the measured resistance within specification ?

CAN register and communication line inspection
1. IG KEY OFF
2. Disconnect PCM connector and Cluster connector.
3. Measure resistance between terminal CAN Low and CAN High of PCM.
4. Measure resistance between terminal CAN Low and CAN High of Cluster.

Specification :About 120 Ohms

5. Is the measured value within specification ?
