C1378 Brake Pedal Travel Sensor-Electrical - Inspection/Repair:_:W/Harness Inspection
Terminal and Connector Inspection
1. Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness(es) and terminals. Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.
2. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage.
3. Has a problem been found?
Power Circuit Inspection
Open or Short Check
1. IG "ON".
2. Measure voltage between PDF power terminal of the Brake Pedal Travel sensor harness connector and chassis ground.
Specification :Approx. 5V
3. Is the measured value within specifications?
Ground Circuit Inspection
Open or Short Check
1. IG "OFF".
2. Disconnect the Brake Pedal Travel sensor, HECU connectors.
3. Measure resistance between PDF ground terminal of the Brake Pedal Travel sensor harness connector and chassis ground.
Specification :Approx. below 1Ohms
4. Is the measured value within specifications?
Signal Circuit Inspection
Short Check (to ground)
1. IG "OFF".
2. Disconnect the Brake Pedal Travel sensor, HECU connectors.
3. Measure resistance between PTF signal terminal of the Brake Pedal Travel sensor harness connector and chassis ground.
Specification :Approx. Infinity Ohms
4. Is the measured value within specifications?
Short Check (to battery)
1. IG "ON".
2. Disconnect the Brake Pedal Travel sensor, HECU connectors.
3. Measure voltage between PTF signal terminal of the Brake Pedal Travel sensor harness connector and chassis ground.
Specification :Approx. 0 V
4. Is the measured value within specifications?
Open Check
1. IG "ON".
2. Disconnect the Brake Pedal Travel sensor, HECU connectors.
3. Measure voltage between PTF signal terminal of the Brake Pedal Travel sensor harness connector and HECU harness connector.
Specification :Approx. 0 Ohms
4. Is the measured value within specifications?
