C2131 ESS Brake Lamp Relay Error - Inspection/Repair:_:W/Harness Inspection

Terminal and Connector Inspection

1. Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness and terminals. Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.
2. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage.
3. Has a problem been found?






Power Circuit Inspection

Open or Short Check
1. IG "OFF".
2. Disconnect ESS Brake Lamp Relay(ESS relay).
3. IG "ON" & ENG "OFF", and press brake peda
4. Measure voltage between power terminal of ESS brake lamp relay(ESS relay) harness connector and chassis ground.

Specification :Approx. B+




5. Is the measured value within specifications?






Control Circuit Inspection

Open Check
1. IG "OFF".
2. Disconnect ESS Brake Lamp Relay(ESS relay) and HECU connector.
3. Measure resistance between control terminal of ESS brake lamp relay(ESS relay) harness connector and ESS brake lamp control terminal of HECU harness connector.

Specification :Approx. below 1Ohms




4. Is the measured value within specifications?





Short Check
1. IG "OFF".
2. Disconnect ESS Brake Lamp Relay(ESS relay) and HECU connector.
3. Measure resistance between control terminal of ESS brake lamp relay(ESS relay) harness connector and chassis ground.

Specification :Infinite (Infinity Ohms)




4. Is the measured value within specifications?
