Terminal and Connector Inspection

1. Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness and terminals.
Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage
2. Thoroughly check all connectors (and connections) for looseness, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, and/or damage.
3. Has a problem been found ?






CAN communication circuit inspection (EPS <--> ESP(VDC)

1. Ignition "OFF"
2. Disconnect EPS connector and ESP(VDC) ECU connector
3. Measure the resistance between CAN-HIGH terminal of EPS harness connector and CAN-HIGH terminal of ESP(VDC) ECU harness connector.
4. Measure the resistance between CAN-LOW terminal of EPS harness connector and CAN-LOW terminal of ESP(VDC) ECU harness connector.

Specification :below 1Ohms




5. Is the measured resistance within specifications?






Check short to ground in CAN communication line

1. IG KEY OFF.
2. Measure resistnace between CAN high terminal (# 3) of diagnostic connector and chassis ground.
3. Measure resistance between CAN low terminal (# 11) of diagnostic connector and chassis ground.

Specification :Infinity Ohms




4. Is the measured resistance within specifications?
