SUBJECT: SERVICE ACTION: POSITIVE BATTERY TERMINAL COVER INSPECTION/REPLACEMENT (SA083)
This bulletin provides information relating to some 2011MY Soul vehicles produced from June 10, 2011 to June 22, 2011 that may have a positive battery terminal cover that was incorrectly marked with a negative (-) symbol. If an incorrect battery terminal cover was installed, then replace it with a new cover (+) following the Service Procedure outlined in this bulletin. To ensure maximum customer satisfaction Kia is requesting the completion of this Service Action on all affected 2011 MY Soul (AM) vehicles.
*NOTICE
A Service Action is a repair program without customer notification that is performed during the warranty period. Any dealer request to perform this repair outside the warranty period will require DPSM approval.
Repair status for a VIN is provided on WebDCS (Service>Warranty Coverage> Warranty Coverage Inquiry>Campaign Information). Not Completed Recall Service Action reports are available on WebDCS (Consumer Affairs>Not Completed Recall Recall VIN>Select Report).
The issue number is SA083.
Inspection:
Open the hood and check if the (-) symbol (A) is marked on the positive battery terminal cover as shown in the photo.
If a (-) symbol appears on cover as indicated in the photo, then replace it with the new positive battery cable cover by following the steps below.
If a (+) symbol appears on cover, no further action is required.
Service Procedure:
1. Remove (un-snap) battery terminal cover from the battery cable.
*NOTICE
This procedure can be performed without removing the battery cable.
2. Install (snap-on) the new positive battery terminal cover marked with (+) symbol in reverse order of removal.
Cable is shown removed for demonstrative purposes only. DO NOT remove.
Photo shows correct (+) battery terminal cover installed.
