W/Harness Inspection

P2159 Vehicle Speed Sensor \'B\' Range / Performance (Wheel Speed Sensor)

Inspection/Repair - W/Harness Inspection

Terminal & Connector Inspection

1. Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness and terminals.
Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.
2. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage.
3. Has a problem been found?

Signal Circuit Inspection (ABS/ESP Vehicle)

Check Short to ground in signal circuit
1. IG KEY "OFF".
2. Disconnect ECM connector.
3. Disconnect ABS/ESP control unit connector.
4. Measure resistance between speed signal terminal of ECM harness connector and chassis ground.

Specification : Infinite

5. Is the measured resistance within specification?

Check for open in harness
1. IG KEY "OFF".
2. Disconnect ECM connector.
3. Disconnect ABS/ESP control unit connector.
4. Measure resistance between speed signal terminal of ECM harness connector and speed signal signal of ABS (ESP) control module harness connector.

Specification : Approx 1 Ohms

5. Is the measured resistance within specification?

Signal Circuit Inspection (Non-ABS/ESP Vehicle)

Check Open or Short in power circuit
1. IG KEY "ON" & ENG "OFF"
2. Measure voltage between signal "A", "B" terminal of the wheel speed sensor harness connector and chassis ground. (Don't disconnect the WSS connector.)

Specification : Power : Approx 11.5 V
Signal : Approx 0.7 V

3. Is the measured voltage within specification?
