Component Inspection
1. Check PCSV
(1) Disconnect vacuum Hose connected between Surge tank and PCSV.
(2) Connect vacuum gauge to disconnected vacuum hose.
(3) Does PCSV retain vacuum?
YES
1) Go to "Check CCV" as follows.
NO
1) Repair or replace as necessary and then, go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
2. Check CCV
(1) Disconnect vacuum hose between Canister and CCV from Canister
(2) Connect vacuum gauge to disconnected vacuum hose and apply vacuum.
(3) Does CCV retain vacuum?
YES
1) Go to "Check canister" as follows.
NO
1) Repair or replace as necessary and then, go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
3. Check Canister
(1) Disconnect vacuum hoses connected to canister.
- Check any damage or leakage on vacuum hose between Canister and CCV.
- Check any damage or leakage on vacuum hose between Canister and Fuel Tank.
- Check any damage or leakage on vacuum hose between Canister and PCSV.
(2) Connect vacuum gauge to one of vacuum hoses and apply vacuum one by one. (The rest of vacuum hose should be blocked.)
(3) Is the vacuum retained?
YES
1) Go to "Check Fuel Tank" as follows.
NO
1) Repair or replace as necessary and then, go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
4. Check Fuel Tank.
(1) Check any damage or leakage on Fuel Tank.
(2) Has a problem been found?
YES
1) Repair or replace as necessary and then, go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
NO
1) Substitute with a known - good PCM and check for proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace PCM and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
CAUTION:
There is a memory reset function on scantool that can erase optional parts automatically detected and memorized by PCM.
Before or after testing PCM on the vehicle, use this function to reuse the PCM on the others
