SPRING INSPECTION (5A065)
This bulletin provides information regarding a Service Action on 2011 MY Optima vehicles produced from October 16, 2010 to November 24, 2010. In some vehicles, the return spring in the accelerator pedal might be mis-positioned and if so, it could result in noisy operation and/or an unsatisfactory pedal feel and responsiveness while driving. To ensure maximum customer satisfaction Kia is requesting the completion of this Service Action on all affected 2011MY Optima vehicles. Please perform this Service Action for all dealer instock units prior to retail sales. Use the following procedure to inspect for the condition. It will be necessary to contact Techline prior to replacing a pedal to confirm the condition and obtain release of a replacement part.
NOTICE
Inspection Procedure:
1. Perform Procedure with Key Off / Engine Off.
Completely press and release the Accelerator Pedal and repeat 25-30 times.
2. While inspecting the operation of the Accelerator Pedal as indicated in step 1, pay close attention to the presence of binding, and/or unusual noise while pressing and releasing Accelerator Pedal.
If any binding, poor return and/or unusual noise is experienced while pressing and releasing Accelerator Pedal, open a Techline Case for suspected VIN via web.
Techline will contact dealer after case has been opened for further instructions and procedures.

4. If a replacement pedal is authorized by Techline, a parts order will be automatically created to generate parts shipment, so no parts order will be necessary. Please refer to KGIS Service Information for Service Procedure.
A separate Warranty Claim will need to be generated if replacement is required, and Tech Line will provide claim instructions.
