NOTICE
A Service Action is a repair program without customer notification that is performed during the warranty period. Any dealer requesting to perform this repair outside the warranty period will require DPSM approval.
Repair status for a VIN is provided on WebDCS (Service > Warranty Coverage > Warranty Coverage Inquiry > Campaign Information). Not completed Recall/Service Action reports are available on WebDCS (Consumer Affairs > Not Completed Recall > Recall VIN > Select Report), which includes a list of affected vehicles.
This issue number is SA066.
Inspection/Adjustment Procedure:
1. Perform inspection using alignment rack.
Check and adjust the tires for proper pressure according to the tire pressure label located on the driver's door opening.
Turn the steering wheel so that the front wheels face straight forward and then check that the steering wheel is centered.
2. CAUTION If the steering wheel is off center more then 10°, remove and reinstall the steering wheel to be centered before checking the front toe.
NOTICE
OPTIMA (TF) steering wheel hub and shaft have 36 serrations respectively, so if installing the steering wheel after rotating it counter-clockwise by one serration, the steering wheel becomes off center by 10° (360°/36) as shown in the photo above.
3. Center the steering wheel, and check that the front toe setting is within the proper specification using wheel alignment equipment.
Toe-in specification
- Total: 0.16° +/- 0.2°
- Individual: 0.08° +/- 0.1°
NOTICE
Alignment specifications can be found on KGIS.
If the front toe setting is within the specification, no further action is required.
If the front toe setting is not within the proper specification, and the steering wheel is slightly off center less than 10°, adjust the toe setting by adjusting the tie rods.
