SOUL (AM) / SORENTO (XM) DOOR TRIM ACCENT
LIGHTING WIRING REPLACEMENT (SC083)

This bulletin provides information relating to the replacement of the door trim panel wiring harnesses used for the lighting in the Advanced Lighting Speakers in some 2010MY Soul (AM) vehicles produced from September 7, 2009 to June 08, 2010 and the "Interior Accent Illumination" in some 2011 MY Sorento (XM) vehicles produced from October 23, 2009 to July 30, 2010 These wiring harnesses may have been improperly soldered As a result, when the lights are illuminated under certain conditions, an electrical short may ensue, and can result in a fire.





Use the following repair procedure to install the new harnesses and to correct the condition.

Soul Inspection Procedure:





Open the hood and check for SC083 campaign completion label above the drivers side fuse box If label exists NO FURTHER ACTION IS REQUIRED

If label does not exist continue to step one (1) of Service Procedure outlined below Soul Right/Left Wire Harness Replacement Service Procedure:





1. Verify that the vehicle is contained in the list of affected VINs.

Accent Lighting location (A)





2. Remove the side rear view mirror inner cover (B)

Remove five (5) door trim mounting screw covers (indicated by circles) and then remove the five (5) retaining screws; then remove interior door handle housing cover





3. Remove the door trim from the door panel beginning with the lower section first as indicated in the photo (Accent Lighting wiring connector needs to be disconnected before door trim panel can be removed, see step 4).





4. Disconnect the Accent Lighting wiring connector (C) from the door wiring

Remove the wiring from the Accent Lighting (D)

Install the new Accent Lighting wiring; then assemble all the removed parts in reverse order of removal.

Repeat the above procedure on opposite door Verify that Accent Lighting operates normally.





5. Attach campaign completion label above the drivers side fuse box





Sorento Inspection Procedure:

Open the hood and check for 8C083 campaign completion label above the drivers side fuse box If label exists NO FURTHER ACTION IS REQUIRED

If label does not exist continue to step one (1) of Service Procedure outlined below





1. Verify that the vehicle is contained in the list of affected VINs

Accent Lighting location (A)





2. Remove the side rear view mirror inner cover/tweeter (B)

Remove the four (4) door trim mounting

screw covers and then remove the four (4)

screws (C)





Carefully remove the door handle cover (D)

Remove the two (2) door trim mounting screws (E)

3. Carefully remove the door trim from the door panel beginning with the lower section first





4. Remove the door latch (F) from the door trim

Disconnect all wiring connectors (G) from the door trim

Remove the door trim from the door panel





5. Remove the nineteen (19) Accent Lighting garnish and inner door handle mounting screws as indicated in the photo.





6. Separate the Accent Lighting wiring connector from the wiring connector retaining bracket (H)





7. Disconnect the Accent Lighting wiring connector (I) from the Accent Lighting assembly lens as indicated in the photo





8. Photo shows removed Accent Lighting garnish for additional clarity Install new Accent Lighting wiring assembly

Reinstall all removed parts in reverse order of removal

Repeat the procedure on the opposite front door and right and left rear doors

Verify that Accent Lighting operates normally.





9. Attach campaign completion label above the driver's side fuse box.
