Body - Water Trapped Inside Rear Spoiler

SOUL (AM) REAR SPOILER - ADDITION OF DRAINAGE HOLES





This bulletin provides information relating to some Soul (AM) vehicles equipped with a Sport Spoiler built from May 1, 2009 to February 5, 2010 Water may flow into exposed blow holes (A) and become trapped, and then stagnate inside the rear spoiler assembly The countermeasure entails drilling two drainage holes in the rear spoiler assembly; then adding two adhesive cover pads over existing blow holes (A) If you have a customer with a complaint of water sloshing inside the spoiler, please follow the procedure outlined in this bulletin (Only Sport Spoilers are affected)

Service Procedure: Drilling Drainage Holes on Rear Spoiler Assembly





1. Open the tailgate and remove the rear spoiler retaining fastener covers (4EA) from the tailgate as indicated by the circles in the photo; then remove the rear spoiler retaining fasteners.





2. Close the tailgate; then carefully remove the rear spoiler assembly by pulling the spoiler assembly upward from the tailgate.





3. Use a proper tool to remove any remaining adhesive tape on the upper surface of the tailgate.

Apply light coating of low-temp non hardening sealer around the rear spoiler mounting holes (4EA) when reinstalling spoiler assembly.





4. Carefully remove residual adhesive tape on the removed rear spoiler assembly





5. Drill two (2) drain holes approximately 4mm in diameter on the night and left corners approximately 7mm from the outer edge of the rear spoiler to the center of the new drainage hole as indicated in the photo.

6. Drain any residual water from spoiler clean the surface; then attach the doublesided adhesive tape supplied in the kit on the removed spoiler assembly.





7. Attach the supplied pads (B) over blow holes as indicated in the photo on both sides of the rear spoiler assembly.

8. Reinstall the rear spoiler assembly in the reverse order of removal.
