Inspection/Repair - W/Harness Inspection

Terminal & Connector Inspection

1. Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness and terminals.
Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.
2. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage.
3. Has a problem been found?






Power Circuit Inspection

Check Open or Short in power circuit
1. IG KEY "OFF".
2. Disconnect TPS connector.
3. IG KEY "ON" & ENG "OFF"
4. Measure the voltage between power terminal of TPS harness connector and chassis ground.

Specification :Approx 5 V




5. Is the measured voltage within specification?






Ground Circuit Inspection

Check Open or Short in signal circuit
1. IG KEY "OFF".
2. Disconnect TPS connector.
3. IG KEY "ON" & ENG "OFF"
4. Measure the voltage between power terminal of TPS harness connector and chassis ground. (A)
5. Measure the voltage between power and ground terminal of TPS harness connector and chassis ground. (B)

Specification :"A" - "B" = Below 200mV




6. Is the measured voltage within specification?






Signal Circuit Inspection

Check Open in signal circuit
1. IG KEY "OFF".
2. Disconnect TPS connector.
3. IG KEY "ON" & ENG "OFF"
4. Measure the voltage between signal terminal of TPS harness connector and chassis ground.

Specification :Approx. 5.0 V




5. Is the measured voltage within specification?





Check Short in signal circuit
1. IG KEY "OFF".
2. Disconnect TPS connector and ECM connector.
3. Measure the resistance between power and signal terminal of TPS harness connector.

Specification :Infinite




4. Is the measured resistance within specification?
