An increase in engine core damage during the removal of the oil pan from the ladder-frame assembly has been observed. Improper disassembly procedure and removal tools have damaged the lower sealing surface of the ladder-frame to oil pan. This scorching, gouging and sealing surface damage permanently damages the ladder-frame and can not be repaired. The ladder-frame is an integral part to the engine assembly and once damaged is usally irreparable increasing cost and lost labor time.

The following procedures and correct tools must be applied in order to reduce and eliminate damage to the ladder-frame during oil pan removal.
