Component Inspection

1. Main relay check
(1) Key "OFF".
(2) Disconnect Main relay.
(3) Measure the resistance between terminal 30 and 87 of main relay. (Component side)
(4) Measure the resistance between terminal 85 and 86 of main relay. (Component side)
A. Specification :









(5) Is the measured resistance within specifications?
YES
1) Go to "Alternator check" procedure.
NO
1) Substitute with a known - good Main relay and check for proper operation.
If the problem is corrected, replace Main relay and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
2. Alternator check
(1) Key "OFF".
(2) Check the tension of alternator belt.
(3) Check corrosion, damage or looseness of Battery terminal and Alternator terminal.
(4) Engine start.
(5) Operate electrical parts (Head lamp, Defogger, etc).
(6) Measure the voltage at 2000rpm.
A. Specification : Approx 12.5 V ~ 14.5 V
(7) Is the measured voltage within specifications?
YES
1) Substitute with a known - good ECM and check for proper operation.
If the problem is corrected, replace ECM and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

CAUTION:
There is a memory reset function on scantool that can erase optional parts automatically detected and memorized by PCM.
Before or after testing PCM on the vehicle, use this function to reuse the PCM on the others

NO
1) Substitute with a known - good Alternator and check for proper operation.
If the problem is corrected, replace Alternator and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
