Some Forte/Forte Koup vehicles manufactured from March 3, 2009 (start of production) to August 14, 2009 with both GEN 1.0 and
GEN 1.5 audio systems may experience "speaker/enclosure rattle." This concern may be caused by too high bass response. We recommend that any vehicle within this production range be repaired prior to retail sale by following the instructions provided in this Service Action. Additionally, any vehicle coming in for service should be checked and if necessary repaired before it is returned to the customer.

Software Download Procedure:

1. If viewing this TSB electronically, click the links below.





Otherwise log onto the website and select "Downloads" from the left navigation.

Select "Downloads for Forte Audio Software Update".





Click the appropriate "Forte Audio Software Update Download" link.





2. Click "Run".





3. Click "Run".





4. Click "OK".





5. Click "Next".

6. Insert the appropriately labeled USB memory stick (GEN
1.0 or GEN 1.5) into the computers port. Wait a few
seconds until your computer recognizes the new drive.





Click "Next".





7. Click "Browse" button to navigate to your USB drive
location.

8. Click "My Computer" to locate the removable USB drive.





Locate and select (click/highlight) the destination drive,
in this case "Removable Disk (D:)", which is the
previously inserted USB memory stick.

Click "OK".





9. Verify the correct letter is selected in the Destination Directory field.

Click "Next".





10. Review your settings, and then Click "Next" to begin
the download.





11. Wait while your files are copied to your USB memory stick.

12. Click "Finish" button to close window.





Audio Software Update is transferred to your USB memory stick and ready for use.

Audio Update Procedure





1. Following the instructions on page one of this TSB,
determining the vehicles audio generation (GEN1.0 or
GEN1.5).

Turn the ignition key "ON" and then insert the appropriate
USB memory stick (GEN1.0 or GEN1.5) into the vehicles
USB port located in the center console forward of the shift
lever.





2. Wait until the MP3 file is played.





3. Turn OFF the audio unit by pressing the POWER button.





4. Press and hold the preset 1 & 4 buttons simultaneously
for more than 2 seconds.





5. Press the preset 1 button repeatedly four times (4X) in-a-row.





(F)... will be displayed on the screen indicating it is
possible to update the audio software.





6. Press the preset 1 button. "Firmware Update from
USB..." is displayed on the screen.





7. Press preset 5 button to update the MICOM software.





The MICOM software will be updated as indicated on the screen. After completion of the update the audio unit will be automatically
reset and turned off. Remove the USB memory stick and check the audio system operation to confirm download success.

REQUIRED SST:

2 blank USB memory sticks 64Mb each, or larger
