SUBJECT: SERVICE ACTION: APPLICATION OF ADDITIONAL ANTICORROSION PROTECTION THROUGH PROTECTIVE SEALING (SA085)
This bulletin provides information relating to 2010-2011MY Forte (ID) vehicles built from February 23, 2009 to March 14, 2011 and in which sealant in certain body seams of the front wheel wells may have been incompletely applied. Kia is providing the repair procedure in this bulletin to inspect and if necessary apply additional sealant to the affected seams as protective sealing against corrosion. This procedure covers affected 2010-2011MY Forte (ID) vehicles that were sold in the 21 states which are known to use heavy amounts of road salt. The 21 states are: CT, DC, DE, IA, IL, IN, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, NH, NJ, NN, OH, PA, RI, VT, WI, WV. Before conducting the procedure as specified in this TSB, verify that the vehicle is included in the list of affected VINs. Once confirmed, proceed to the Service Procedure to inspect and if necessary apply additional sealer as instructed.

*NOTICE
A Service Action is a repair program without customer notification that is performed during the warranty period. Any dealer requesting to perform this repair outside the warranty period will require DPSM approval.
Repair status for a VIN is provided on WebDCS (Service> Warranty Coverage> Warranty Coverage Inquiry> Campaign Information). Not completed Recall / Service Action reports are available on WebDCS (Consumer Affairs> Not Completed Recall> Recall VIN> Select Report), which includes a list of affected vehicles.
This issue number is SA085.
Service Procedure:
1. Raise vehicle and remove the front wheel and tire assembly.
Remove the front mud guard (A) if equipped.
2. Remove the front wheel guard (B).
3. Before applying sealer, clean off any mud and dirt in the seams as indicated in the photo.
4. Carefully check if sealant is properly applied along the seams as indicated in the photo on the right and in examples below. If not, apply additional sealant along seams.
5. Examples of improper sealing.
6. Repeat the above steps for the opposite side. Install removed components in reverse order of removal.
