Description





On some 2009 Spectra (LD) manufactured before 8-20-2008 the manual window crank handle may not have the retention pin for the knob installed or completely seated. Using DCS, check to see if the vehicle is one affected by this Service Action. If affected use the following instructions to complete this Service Action inspection and/or procedure.

*NOTICE
A Service Action is a repair program without customer notification that is performed during the warranty period. Any dealer request to perform this repair outside the warranty period will require DPSM approval.

Repair status for a VIN is provided on WebDCS (Service>Warranty Coverage>Warranty Coverage Inquiry>Campaign Information). Not Completed Recall/Service Action reports are available on WebDCS (Consumer Affairs>Not Completed Recall Recall VIN>Select Report).

The issue number is SA003.

Effective Vehicle Information

All 2009 Spectra vehicles manufactured before 8/20/2008.

Parts Information

REQUIRED PART

Used only if knob retaining pin is missing. No part number assigned. Not available by parts order. A minimum quantity of parts will be sent to dealers that have been identified as having more than four (4) affected vehicles in their stock.

Service Procedure





1. Check the insertion of the retaining pin for the knob on the crank arm.

*NOTICE: You man find using a mirror easily checks the correct insertion of the pins.





2. If the pin is correctly inserted (complete insertion) then no further action is necessary.





3. If the pin is missing or not fully inserted, follow the steps in the "Correction Procedure" section.

CORRECTION PROCEDURE:





1. If the pin is not pushed in flush, finish the insertion process using the flat blade of a screwdriver, pushing the pin in until flush with the knob as shown.





2. If the pin is missing, insert a new pin into the handle and push it in until flush with the knob. The pins inner section is smaller in diameter, and is inserted into the knob first.
