W/Harness Inspection

Terminal and Connector Inspection

1. Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness(es) and terminals. Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.
2. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage.
3. Has a problem been found?






Power Circuit Inspection

1. IG "OFF".
2. Disconnect MAPS connector.
3. IG "ON" & ENG "OFF"
4. Measure the voltage between power terminal of MAPS harness connector and chassis ground.

Specification : Approx. 5V





5. Is the measured voltage within specification ?






Signal Circuit Inspection

1. Check for short to Ground in signal harness
(1) IG "OFF".
(2) Disconnect MAPS and PCM connector.
(3) Measure the resistance between signal terminal of MAPS harness connector and chassis ground.

Specification : Infinite Ohms





(4) Is the measured resistance within specification ?





2. Check for Open in signal harness
(1) IG "OFF".
(2) Disconnect MAPS and PCM connector.
(3) Measure the resistance between signal terminal of MAPS and PCM.

Specification : Approx. 0 Ohms





(4) Is the measured resistance within specification ?
