Description

The 2009 MY Optima (LX/EX/SX) 2.4L/2.7L, built after 10/31/2008 is equipped with ECO Driving System (Fuel Economy Indicator). The ECO driving system is designed to alert the driver via the instrument cluster icon of the most optimal/economically fuel consumption conditions while driving. After the engine reaches operating temperature and the gear selector is in Drive, the engine management system enters into ECO mode and alerts the driver of the most optimum fuel efficiency based on user engine load and speed. When engine load conditions are not the most optimal (high speed/high engine load conditions/manual shift models), the ECO indicator light will turn "off", on the instrument cluster. After the vehicle returns to a steady cruise/constant engine load, the ECO light will re-illuminate to notify the driver of the most optimal/economically fuel consumption methods of driving. The ECO indicator can be turned "on" and "off" by holding the trip indicator down for five (5) seconds.
