W/Harness Inspection

Terminal and Connector Inspection

1. Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness and terminal condition.
Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems and mechanical or chemical damage.
2. Thoroughly check all connectors (and connections) for looseness, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration and/or damage.
3. Has a problem been found?
YES
1) Repair if necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
NO
1) Go to "Control Circuit Inspection" procedure.

Control Circuit Inspection

1. Ignition "OFF".
2. Disconnect instrument cluster connector and TPMS receiver connector.
3. Ignition "ON".
4. Measure voltage between terminal "12" of TPMS receiver harness connector and chassis ground.
A. Specification : Approx. 0V

5. Is the measured voltage within specifications?
YES
1) "Check Short to ground" as follows.
NO
1) Check for short to power in control harness.
2) Repair if necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
Check Open
1. Ignition "OFF".
2. Disconnect instrument cluster connector and TPMS receiver connector.
3. Measure resistance between terminal "12" of TPMS receiver harness connector and chassis ground.
A. Specification : Infinity

4. Is the measured resistance within specifications?
YES
1) "Check Open" as follows.
NO
1) Check for short to ground in control harness.
2) Repair if necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
Check Open
1. Ignition "OFF".
2. Disconnect instrument cluster connector and TPMS receiver connector.
3. Measure resistance between terminal "12" of TPMS receiver harness connector and terminal "3" of instrument cluster harness connector.
A. Specification : Approx. 0 Ohm

4. Is the resistance measured within specifications?
YES
1) Substitute with a known-good TPMS receiver and check for proper operation.
2) If the problem is corrected, replace TPMS receiver and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
NO
1) Check for open in control harness.
2) Repair if necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
