W/Harness Inspection
Terminal and Connector Inspection
1. Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness(es) and terminal condition. Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems and mechanical or chemical damage.
2. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration or damage.
3. Has a problem been found?
Signal Circuit Inspection
Open or Short Check
1. Ignition "ON" & Engine "OFF".
2. Turn the steering wheel to the left or right.
3. Measure waveform between signal terminal of the HECU harness connector and chassis ground with oscilloscope.
Specification : Check the voltage range (HIGH : 2.9±0.1V ~ 4.4±0.1V LOW : 1.2±0.1V ~ 2.1±0.1V) of the sensor signal in case of turning left and turning right.
If normal waveforms such as Fig.1, 2 are detected in each condition, It is normal.
Normal waveform
Fig 1) Normal waveform of Steering Angle Sensor with turning left after ENGINE "ON"
Fig 2) Normal waveform of Steering Angle Sensor with turning right after ENGINE "ON"
** "LOW" : approx 1.5V, "HIGH" : approx 3.5V.
4. Is the measured waveform within specifications?
