This bulletin provides information relating to some Rio (JB) vehicles built from June 12, 2007 to August 12, 2009 that may experience abnormal wear on the door weather strip as shown in the photo. Check door weather strip on all doors for abnormal wear, and if necessary, replace only affected door weather strip(s) with a new part.





To improve customer satisfaction, Kia is requesting the completion of this Service Action on all affected 2008-2009MY Rio (JB) vehicles.

Service Procedure:

Inspection





Inspect all four (4) door weather strips for any abnormal wear.
If any of the door weather strips show abnormal wear (A), replace only the worn weather strip(s) according the procedure outlined below.

Front Door Weather Strip Replacement





1. First remove the fuel filler door handle cover (B) as shown in the photo.





2. Remove the front door scuff trim assembly (C). Replace the front door weather strip (D) with a new part.

Rear Door Weather Strip Replacement

1. Remove the rear seat cushion (E) to gain access to the rear door scuff trim.

Removing rear seat cushion: Loosen the rear seat cushion mounting bolt(s) if equipped; then push release (F) inward and remove cushion.





2. Remove the rear door scuff trim (G).

Replace the rear door weather strip (H) with a new part.

Reinstall removed components in reverse order of removal.
