Subject
2008MY Optima/Rondo - 2.4L (I-4) Automatic Transmission Vehicle Speed Sensor Deletion

- Description

This Pitstop bulletin provides information relating to changes to the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) on Optima and Rondo vehicles equipped with the 2.4L (I-4) engine/automatic transmission. Effective from July 2007, production, the VSS sensor has been deleted from the powertrain & wiring infrastructure. Optima and Rondo vehicles produced after July 2007, now utilize the digital signal from the Transmission Output Speed Sensor (Pulse Generator-B), which reports the vehicle speed to Powertrain Control Module (PCM). The PCM then reports the VSS signal to the instrument cluster for the miles per hour display (MPH). Service and parts documentation will be updated in the future to reflect these modifications.

Parts Interchangeability:

Due to these powertrain design changes, automatic transmission and powertrain control modules (PCM)/wiring are not interchangeable with previous model year 2.4L A/T powertrain configurations.

Effective Vehicle Production Dates

Rondo: 7/2/2007

Optima: 7/18/2007
