DTC 13

13

Component Location:

General Description
LIN* provides a low speed communication network. It is applied from power window switch to four SPW (Safety Power Window) ECU, power seat switch module and from multi function switch to BCM.
*LIN (Local Interconnect Network) : LIN is a new low cost serial communication system intended to be used for distributed electronic systems in vehicles, which complements the existing portfolio of automotive multiplex networks.

DTC Description
The power window main switch module sets DTC SWITCH MODULE LIN COMM. ERR if the switch module detects disconnection of the LIN communication circuit.

DTC Detecting Condition:

Schematic Diagram:

Signal Waveform:

Monitor DTC Status
1. Ignition "ON" & Engine "OFF"
2. Using the scantool, monitor the DTC status.

3. Is the DTC SWITCH MODULE LIN COMM. ERR displayed with DRIVER SAFETY P/WDW LIN COMM. ERR and R/DRIVER SAFETY P/WDW LIN COMM. ERR?

YES
Check troubles as below
- LIN communication harness open of the power window main switch module.
- LIN communication circuit short to battery or ground.
- Power window main switch module.

NO - Go to "Inspection/Repair" procedure.

Terminal and Connector Inspection
1. Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness and terminals. Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.
2. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage.
3. Has a problem been found?

YES - Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure

NO - Go to "Power Circuit Inspection" procedure

Power Supply Circuit Inspection
1. Ignition "ON" and Engine "OFF"
2. Disconnect power seat switch module connector.
3. Measure voltage between "1" power seat switch module harness connector and chassis ground.

Specification : Approx. B+

4. Is the measured voltage within specification?

YES - Go to "Signal Circuit Inspection" procedure.

NO - Check the power supply B+ circuit. Repair as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

Signal Circuit Inspection
1. Ignition "ON" and Engine "OFF"
2. Connect scantool and select VEHICLE SCOPEMETER function.
3. Measure waveform between "8" of the power seat switch module connector and chassis ground.

Specification : If LIN communication waveform is displayed, it is OK.

4. Is LIN communication waveform displayed within specification?

YES - Substitute with a known-good power seat switch module and check proper condition. If the problem is corrected, replace power seat switch module and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

NO - Check the LIN communication circuit of the power seat switch module for open. Repair as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

Verification of Vehicle Repair
After a repair, it is essential to verify that the fault has been corrected.
1. Ignition "ON" & Engine "OFF"
2. Connect scantool and clear DTC.
3. Are any DTCs present?

YES - Go to the applicable troubleshooting procedure.

NO - System is performing to specification at this time.
