DTC 02
2Component Location:
General Description
The purpose of this function is to indicate brake fuse failure. After IGN1 "ON", the stop lamp fuse failure is detected. In IGN1 "ON" state, When a brake fuse failure has detected (Stop lamp fuse failed = ON), Indicator lamp is turned ON. The present failure is cleared by fault manager, if the failure condition no longer exists.
DTC Description
The BCM sets DTC BRAKE FUSE OPEN if the BCM detects an open circuit in the brake lamp fuse.
DTC Detecting Condition:
Schematic Diagram:
Monitor Scantool Data
1. Ignition "ON" and engine "OFF"
2. Connect scantool and select INPUT/OUTPUT MONITORING.
3. Monitor "BRAKE POWER(FUSE)" parameter on the scantool.
Specification : ON
4. Is "BRAKE POWER(FUSE)" displayed according to specification?
YES - Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration or damage. Repair or replace as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
NO - Go to "Component Inspection" procedure.
Component Inspection
Check Brake Lamp Fuse
1. Check a brake lamp fuse in passenger compartment junction block.
2. Is the brake lamp fuse normal?
YES - Go to "W/Harness Inspection" procedure.
NO - Replace brake lamp fuse and Go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
Terminal and Connector Inspection
1. Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness(es) and terminals. Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems and mechanical or chemical damage.
2. Check the following conditions:
1. Check for damaged harness and terminals: contact resistance, oxidation, bent or broken terminals.
2. Check for poor connection between ECM and component: backed out terminal, improper mating, broken locks and poor terminal to wire connection
NOTE: Using a suitable male pin to ensure that contact in sockets is good. The pin should remain in position when pulled gently.
3. Has a problem been found?
YES - Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure
NO - Go to "Power Circuit Inspection" procedure
Power Supply Circuit Inspection
1. Ignition "OFF"
2. Disconnect BCM connector and passenger compartment junction block.
3. Measure resistance between terminal "15" of the passenger compartment junction block harness connector and "12" of the BCM harness connector.
Specification : Approx. 1 ohm below.
4. Is measured resistance within specifications?
YES - Go to "BCM Inspection" procedure.
NO - Check for an open in power supply harness. Repair as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair"
BCM Inspection
1. Ignition "ON" and engine "OFF"
2. Connect scantool and clear DTC.
3. Are any DTCs present?
YES - Substitute with a known-good BCM and check proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace BCM and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
NO - Go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
Verification of Vehicle Repair
After a repair, it is essential to verify that the fault has been corrected.
1. Ignition "ON" & Engine "OFF"
2. Connect scantool and clear DTC.
3. Are any DTCs present?
YES - Go to the applicable troubleshooting procedure.
NO - System is performing to specification at this time.
