SUBJECT:
SERVICE ACTION: REAR DOOR GLASS RUN WIND NOISE REPAIR (SA044)
This bulletin provides information relating to some Rio (JB) vehicles built from June 12, 2007 to July 1, 2008 that may experience wind noise from the rear glass area due to excessive glass to channel run clearance.
To improve customer satisfaction, Kia is requesting the completion of this Service Action on all affected Rio (JB) vehicles.
1. Inspect the rear door glass runs on both sides 1. for excessive clearance. If no gaps are found, no further action will be required. If a loose fit is detected, adjust the rear door division channel on that side to eliminate any gap between the rear door glass and the run channel by following the outlined procedure below.
2. Completely lower the rear window glass to gain complete access to the division channel.
3. Partially remove the rear door weatherstrip (D) as shown in the photo. Remove the division channel mounting screw (E) and set aside for later use.
4. Pull the rear door division channel (F) rearward to achieve a tight fit to rear door glass run (G) as indicated in the photo.
After the procedure is completed, the rear glass should have a no-gap fit into the rear glass run channel as indicated by the arrows to prevent any potential wind noise.
5. Reinstall the rear door division channel in reverse order of removal.
