Scantool Diagnostics

DTC DESCRIPTION

This test detects a leak by measuring an increase of vacuum in the fuel evaporative system. A leak in evaporative system can allow hydrocarbons to leak from the tank to the atmosphere when the engine is off. The test should be calibrated to detect a 0.04" (1mm) leak.

If there is a large leak above the threshold value in the fuel evaporative system, ECM/PCM sets P0455.

DTC DETECTING CONDITION

MONITOR SCANTOOL DATA

1. Connect scantool to DLC(Data Link Cable)
2. Warm-up the engine to normal operating temperature.
3. Erase DTC currently displayed.
4. Perform the "EVAP. LEAKAGE TEST" with scantool.

5. Is the same DTC displayed after "EVAP. LEAKAGE TEST" has done ?
YES
> Go to "System Inspection" procedure.
NO
> Fault is intermittent caused by poor contact in the sensor's and/or PCM's connector or was repaired and ECM/PCM memory was not cleared. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, ending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure
