W/Harness Inspection





Terminal and Connector Inspection

1. Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness and terminals. Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.
2. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage.
3. Has a problem been found ?
YES
1) Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure
NO
1) Go to "Power Supply Circuit Inspection" procedure.

Power Supply Circuit Inspection

1. Power circuit inspection
(1) Key "OFF".
(2) Disconnect the main relay connector.
(3) Key "ON".
(4) Measure the voltage between terminal 85 of main relay harness connector and chassis ground.
(5) Measure the voltage between terminal 30 of main relay harness connector and chassis ground.
A. Specification: B+




(6) Is the measured voltage within specification ?
YES
1) Go to "Check open in harness" procedure.
NO
1) Check the fuse between battery and main relay.
2) Repair Open or Short to ground in power circuit and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure
2. Check open in harness
(1) Key "OFF".
(2) Disconnect main relay and PCM connector.
(3) Measure the resistance between terminal 87 of main relay harness connector and terminals 38, 39, 40 of PCM connector.
A. Specification: Approx. below 1 Ohm




(4) Is the measured resistance within specification ?
YES
1) Go to "Check short in harness" procedure.
NO
1) Repair open in harness and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
3. Check short in harness
(1) Key "OFF".
(2) Disconnect main relay and PCM connector.
(3) Measure the resistance between terminal 87 of main relay harness connector and chassis ground.
A. Specification: Infinite




(4) Is the measured resistance within specification ?
YES
1) Go to "Control circuit inspection" procedure.
NO
1) Repair short in harness and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

Control Circuit Inspection

1. Check short in harness
(1) Key "OFF".
(2) Disconnect main relay and PCM connector.
(3) Measure the resistance between terminal 86 of main relay harness connector and chassis ground.
A. Specification: Infinite




(4) Is the measured resistance within specification ?
YES
1) Go to "Check open in harness" procedure.
NO
1) Repair short in control harness and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
2. Check open in harness
(1) Key "OFF".
(2) Disconnect main relay and PCM connector.
(3) Measure the resistance between terminal 86 of main relay harness connector and terminal 43 of PCM connector.
A. Specification: Approx. below 1 Ohm




(4) Is the measured resistance within specification ?
YES
1) Go to "Ground circuit inspection" procedure.
NO
1) Repair Open in control harness and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

Ground Circuit inspection

1. Open in circuit inspection
(1) Key "OFF".
(2) Disconnect PCM connector.
(3) Measure the resistance between terminals 35, 36 of PCM (C201-2) connector and chassis ground.
(4) Measure the resistance between terminals 37, 38, 39 of PCM (C201-2) connector and chassis ground.
A. Specification: Approx. blow 1 Ohm




(5) Is the measured resistance within specification ?
YES
1) Go to "System inspection" procedure.
NO
1) Repair Open in control harness and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
