Description

This bulletin provides a repair procedure for replacing the radiator cap on 2006 Rio/Rio5 vehicles built from 6/20/2005 to 1/16/2006. Certain radiator caps installed on vehicles within the affected range may not release at the proper pressure resulting in a coolant leak at the upper or lower radiator hoses.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE:





1. Open hood and check for SC058 Campaign Completion Label at the rear of the left strut tower as shown.

^ If label exists, NO FURTHER ACTION IS REQUIRED.

^ If label DOES NOT EXIST, continue on to REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE.

2006 Rio vehicles with production dates from 6/20/05 through 1/16/06.

Service Procedure

WARNING
Make sure that the engine has cooled down to outside temperature before starting the repair to avoid being burned by hot coolant.

REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE:





1. Remove the old radiator cap and dispose of it properly.

2. Install the new radiator cap identified with a yellow paint dot on the top, as shown in the photo.

3. Clean any coolant that may have spilled, check/correct coolant level as required.





4. Install SC058 Campaign Completion Label in the engine compartment at the rear of the driver's side strut tower as shown.
