Description

Some 2006 MY Rio vehicles may exhibit a squeak / rattle from the drivers seat. To correct this condition, replace the drivers seat track torsion bar with a new upgraded version following the procedure below.

REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE:

1. Remove the front and rear drivers seat track bolts / nut. Slide the seat all the way back and tilt rearward with seat back resting on rear seat cushion. Raise the seat to the top position using both adjusting knobs (turn all the way clockwise).





2. Remove the adjusting knobs and the front seat track side trim screw as shown.





3. Locate the seat track torsion bar and Insert a screwdriver to pry the torsion bar loose from the right side attaching point as shown.





4. Pull the seat track trim away in front and push the left end of the torsion bar out of the seat track holding clip. Remove the torsion bar from the seat track and dispose of it properly. Install the new torsion bar in the reverse order making sure that it is clipped into the seat track holding clip and securely fastened at the right side as shown in pictures two and three.

5. Install the seat track adjusting knobs and side trim in the reverse order of removal. Tighten the four seat track fasteners to 36 - 47 lb-ft.
