Fuel Pump: Service and Repair
FUEL FILTERREMOVAL
1. Open the service cover in trunk room.
2. Reduce the internal pressure of the fuel lines and hoses:
1) Disconnect the fuel pump harness connector.
2) Start the engine and wait until fuel in fuel line is exhausted. After the engine stalls, turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
3) Disconnect the battery negative (-) terminal.
3. Disconnect the fuel feed hose and the fuel return hose.
4. Unfasten the bolts (6) and remove the fuel pump assembly from the fuel tank.
5. Remove the fuel filter holder and disconnect the connecting hose and the cable assembly, and then remove the fuel filter & pump assembly.
FUEL PUMP (FP)
INSPECTION
FUEL PUMP OPERATION CHECK
1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
2. Apply battery voltage to the fuel pump drive connector to check that the pump operates.
NOTE:
The fuel pump is an in-tank type and its operating sound is hard to hear without removing the fuel tank cap.
3. Pinch the hose to check that fuel pressure is felt.
REMOVAL
1. Open the service cover in trunk room.

3) Disconnect the battery negative (-) terminal.
3. Disconnect the fuel feed hose and the fuel return hose.
4. Unfasten the bolts (6) and remove the fuel pump assembly from the fuel tank.
5. Remove the fuel filter holder and disconnect the connecting hose and the cable assembly, and then remove the fuel filter & pump assembly.
6. Pull the fuel pump downward and remove it from the fuel filter & pump assembly.
