Temperature Gauge: Testing and Inspection

Coolant temperature gauge unit.

1. Easy procedure for coolant temperature gauge.
(on vehicle)
a. Disconnect the water temperature sender in the engine compartment.
b. Ground the harness side connector by connecting in series with a testing bulb, 12V, 3.4W.
c. Turn the ignition switch on.




d. Check if the bulb lights on and if the water temperature gauge moves.




2. Coolant temperature sender check.
Measure the resistance between the terminal and ground using ohmmeter. Check if the measurement is within the standard value and replace it if necessary.
