Brake Proportioning/Combination Valve: Testing and Inspection

PROPORTIONING VALVE
INSPECTION





1. Connect the SST to the brake pipes with adapters as shown in the figure.
Adapter and flare nut tightening torque: 12.8 - 21.5 Nm (130 - 220 kg-cm, 113 - 190 inch lbs.)

NOTE: Disconnect and connect the brake pipes with SST.

2. Bleed the air from the brake system.
3. Depress the brake pedal until the front brake pressure equals to A; then record the rear brake pressure A'.





4. Depress the brake pedal again, apply the additional pressure until the pressure equals to B; then record the pressure B'.





FLUID PRESSURE

CAUTION:
^ Do not attempt to adjust the proportioning valve.
^ After the inspection, bleed the air from the brake system and check for the fluid leakage.
^ If the measurements are not within the specification, replace the valve assembly.
