DTC 12
DTC 12 - Voltage Speed Sensor
General Description
Vehicle speed sensor controls steering wheel operation power through the EPS. EPS CM controls the amount of current to the solenoid valve through information it receives from the vehicle speed sensor. The solenoid valve controls power used to operate the steering wheel by adjusting oil fluid pressure from the steering pump. Diagnosis using the vehicle speed sensor is not possible in cases where the vehicle is not being driven. EPS CM determines driver's intent by comparing TPS output value with PWM from engine ECU.
DTC Description
Trouble code occurs when a faulty circuit related to the sensor is detected or when an open/short is detected in the speed sensor circuit. EPS CM detects trouble code and sets solenoid current values according to corresponding 80kph (48mph) values, to reserve driving stability.
