Subject:
Retightening of Front Upper Arm Mounting Nuts (Chassis - 017)

Description

Some AMANTI (GH) vehicles (produced prior to May 31, 2006) may exhibit a creaking, knocking noise from the front upper arms while braking. Lateral movement of front upper arms due to loosened upper arm mounting nuts could cause this noise. Before replacing the upper arm assemblies for such noise, tighten the upper arm mounting nuts according to the procedure outlined in this TSB.

Photo shows LH driver's side area of where bolts may become loose. Either LH driver's side or RH passenger side bolts may need to be re-tightened.

Effective Vehicle Information
From start of AMANTI (GH) production to May 31, 2006.

Service Procedure

Repair Procedure:

1. After confirming customer complaint, re-torque the upper arm mounting nuts to 65.0 to 80.0 lb-ft. Re-torque the nuts indicated by the arrows shown in the photo.

NOTICE:

^ The upper arm assembly has been re-tightened, and customer concern still exists

^ Other concerns are found with the upper arm assembly.

2. Confirm that the original customer concern of creaking, knocking noise while braking has been corrected.
