Front Door Window Regulator: Service and Repair

4 DOOR

Window regulator

Removal
1. Disconnect negative battery cable.




2. Remove door trim. Refer to "Trim".




3. Remove one screw on pull handle bracket.
4. Remove pull handle bracket.




5. Peel off plastic door screen carefully by pulling it away gradually from door frame.




6. Remove run channel.
7. Remove window glass.
a. Reconnect window operating switch.
b. Reconnect negative battery cable.
c. Turn ignition "ON" and position window glass about halfway.
d. Turn ignition "OFF".
e. Disconnect negative battery cable.




f. Remove two glass mounting bolts from power window regulator.




g. Remove glass carefully. Hold glass from both its inner and outer surfaces while tilting it toward hinge side of door, pull it out from outside door frame.

8. Remove power window regulator assembly.
a. Disconnect electrical connector for power window motor.
b. Remove seven nuts on door frame.




c. Remove power window regulator assembly from out of access hole

9. Remove glass guide.
a. Remove three nut on glass guide.




b. Remove glass guide from access hole.

Installation
1. Install glass guide.
a. Position glass guide as originally installed through access hole.




b. Install three nut loosely.

2. Install power window regulator assembly
a. Position power window regulator assembly a originally installed through access hole.




b. Install seven mounting nuts.
c. Connect electrical connector for power window motor.

3. Install window glass.
a. Position glass carefully. Hold glass from both its inner and outer surfaces, and while tilting it toward hinge side of door, place it on small bracket on power window regulator assembly.
b. Install two glass mounting bolts on power window regulator assembly loosely.
c. Reconnect window operating switch.
d. Connect negative battery cable.
e. Turn ignition on and move glass up and down to ensure proper function.




f. Make adjustments as necessary.
g. Turn ignition "OFF"
h. Disconnect negative battery cable.
i. Tighten two glass mounting bolts on power window regulator assembly.

Tighten two mounting bolts to 17 - 26 lb.in (2 - 3 N.m, 20 - 30 kg.cm)




4. Install run channel.




5. Install plastic door screen.
a. Fasten plastic door screen as originally installed.
b. Pull out electrical harness connector from plastic door screen.
c. Pull out two control rods for inside door handle from plastic door screen.




6. Install pull handle bracket with one mounting screws.




7. Install door trim. Refer to "Trim".

5 DOOR

Power window regulator

Removal
1. Disconnect negative battery cable.




2. Remove door trim. Refer to "Trim".




3. Remove one screw on pull handle bracket.
4. Remove pull handle bracket.




5. Remove speaker.
a. Remove three screws on door speaker.
b. Unfasten harness connector from door frame.
c. Pull out speaker and disconnect connectors.




6. Peel off plastic moisture barrier carefully by pulling it away gradually from door frame.

7. Remove window glass.
a. Reconnect window operating switch.
b. Reconnect negative battery cable.
c. Turn ignition on and position window glass about halfway.
d. Turn ignition off.
e. Disconnect negative battery cable.




f. Remove two glass mounting bolts from power window regulator.




g. Remove glass carefully. Hold glass from both its inner and outer surfaces while tilting it toward hinge side of door, pull it out from outside door frame.

8. Remove power window regulator assembly.
a. Disconnect electrical connector for power window motor.
b. Remove seven nuts on door frame.




c. Remove power window regulator assembly from out of access hole.

9. Remove glass guide.
a. Remove one bolt on glass guide.




b. Remove glass guide from access hole.




10. Remove run channel.

Installation




1. install run channel.
2. Install glass guide.
a. Position glass guide as originally installed through access hole.




b. Install one bolt loosely.

3. Install power window regulator assembly
a. Position power window regulator assembly as originally installed through access hole.




b. Install six mounting nuts.

Tighten two mounting nuts to 78 - 113 lb.in (9 - 13 N.m, 90 - 130 kg.cm)

c. Connect electrical connector for power window motor.

4. Install window glass.
a. Position glass carefully. Hold glass from both its inner and outer surfaces, and while tilting it toward hinge side of door, place it on small bracket on power window regulator assembly.
b. Install two glass mounting bolts on power window regulator assembly loosely.
c. Reconnect window operating switch.
d. Connect negative battery cable.
e. Turn ignition on and move glass up and down to ensure proper function.
f. Make adjustments as necessary.




g. Turn ignition off.
h. Disconnect negative battery cable.
i. Tighten two glass mounting bolts on power window regulator assembly.

Tighten two mounting nuts to 17 - 26 lb.in (2 - 3 N.m, 20 - 30 kg.cm)

j. Tighten one bolt on glass guide.

Tighten two mounting nuts to 78 - 113 lb.in (9 - 13 N.m, 90 - 130 kg.cm)

5. Install plastic moisture barrier.
a. Fasten plastic moisture barrier as originally installed.
b. Pull out electrical harness connector from plastic moisture barrier.




c. Pull out two control rods for inside door handle from plastic moisture barrier.




6. Install speaker with three mounting screws.




7. Install pull handle bracket with one mounting screws.




8. Install door trim. Refer to "Trim".
