SUBJECT:
AMANTI DISTANCE TO EMPTY
This bulletin provides information relating to a reset procedure for the Distance To Empty (DTE) indicator as shown on the center console monitor (trip computer) of 2004 and 2005 Amanti vehicles. The DTE indicates the approximate mileage the vehicle can be driven with its current fuel supply. For additional information refer to the trip computer chapter in the Body Electric section of the Amanti Service Manual or refer to Kia Service Information System (KSIS).
The DTE value on some vehicles may intermittently not reset correctly after re-fueling. If necessary, use the procedure in this bulletin to reset the DTE value so that it correctly displays the approximate mileage the vehicle can be driven after filling the fuel tank.
1. Make sure the Distance To Empty is displayed on the display monitor. Toggle through screen modes using the "trip" button, if necessary.
2. Press and hold the "reset" button until the display recalibrates itself (approximately 5 sec.). The blue screen will display 35.8 while recalibrating, then return to correct DTE. The black screen will display 88.8 while recalibrating, then return to correct DTE.
3. If step 2 does not work, momentarily disconnect the power connector fuse in the interior fuse panel, then re-install and verify proper readings.
Note:
In vehicles equipped with the blue screen display, an icon is used as shown. In vehicles with a black screen monitor, the acronym DTE is displayed.
