Throttle Body: Testing and Inspection

INITIALIZATION PROCEDURE FOR THE THROTTLE BODY (ETS)

1. ETS Motor must be initialized after performing the below operations because it is controlled regardless of sensor.
1. Vehicle Line OFF
2. To replace the ETS Motor
3. To replace the ETS Control Module

CAUTION: When replacing the ETS Motor or ECU, delete the Diagnostic Trouble codes in ETS Control Module and ECU, and then perform the initialization procedure for the ETS Motor.

2. The condition of the initializing throttle body (ETS)
1. Ignition off
2. ETS relay ON (when communication is normal)
3. The voltage learning (Closed Throttle of TPS #1) is done
4. The voltage learning (Closed Throttle of TPS #2) is done
5. The wiring of TPS #1 is not open or short circuit
6. Feedback of throttle position is normal
7. ETS Motor is normal
8. Power supply of ETS Motor is normal

3. Initializing Procedure
1. Turn ignition switch OFF for 10 seconds to turn OFF the Control Relay.
2. Turn ignition switch ON for 1 seconds and turn OFF (Don't start the engine)
3. Turn ignition switch OFF for 10 seconds to turn OFF the Control Relay.
4. Turn ignition switch ON for 1 second. At that time EPROM remembers the value of the rotor position.
A. Check the operation of throttle valve.
B. To check whether the initialization procedure for ETS Motor is done or not, verify that the throttle valve operates proportional to the accelerator position when engine is running or ignition switch is ON.
C. After ETS Motor has been initialized, it need not perform again even though battery line is disconnected because ETS Control Module uses the value recorded in EPROM.
