No Power to Amanti Console Box Outlet

This bulletin provides information related to early production Amanti's that do not have power to the console box outlet.





To correct this situation, follow the procedures in this bulletin to replace the storage box trim with a new 12-volt outlet that can plug into the wiring harness on affected vehicles.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE:

Check for power in the 12-volt outlet of the console box. If no power, confirm vehicle does NOT have the pass-thru in the console box. If there is no power to the outlet and no pass-thru, use the following Repair Procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:





1. Open console cover.





2. Lift the front edge of the bottom storage box.

Note:
Insert a thin flat blade screwdriver into front corner to help pop up the storage box.





3. Remove the shift lever fascia by slightly opening the cup holder, and inserting your fingers between the lid of the cup holder, and the rear edge of the fascia. Gently lift from the rear towards the front, you will feel the snap connector on each side come free.





4. Remove the four screws that attach the console plate to the center console.








5. Replace the console plate with the new part, which has the pass-thru (for cord pass-thru) on the driver's side of the plate.





6. Connect the wiring to the bottom of the console box auxiliary electrical outlet.

Note:
Confirm that the connections are secure.





7. Install the replacement storage box with the notch for a cord pass-thru.





8. Reinstall shifter fascia, starting from the front and working towards the rear.

AFFECTED PRODUCTION RANGE:

2004 Amanti vehicles with production dates from 10/03 through 11/03.
