RADIATOR FAN MOTOR

COMPONENTS

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the ground cable from the battery cable.

2. Disconnect the fan motor connector.
3. Remove the shroud mounting bolt (3ea).
4. Remove the shroud and fan motor assembly.
5. Remove the fan mounting clip and remove the fan.
6. Remove the fan motor from the shroud.

INSPECTION
RADIATOR FAN MOTOR
1. Check that the radiator fan rotates when battery voltage is applied between the terminals.

2. Check that there are not abnormal noises while the motor is running.

RADIATOR FAN MOTOR RELAY
1. Remove the radiator fan motor relay from the relay box in the engine room.

2. Check continuity with an ohmmeter.

3. Apply 12 Volts to terminal 85 and ground to terminal 86. Check for continuity between terminals 30 and 87.
4. If there is no continuity, replace fan motor relay.

RADIATOR FAN OPERATING LOGIC

NOTE:
^ Temperature hysteresis: 5°C (41° F)
^ Vehicle speed hysteresis: 3 MPH (5 km/inch)
^ Both condenser and radiator are operated with high speed when coolant temperature failure.
^ Compressor cut off hysteresis: 115°C ±7°C (239°F ± 44.6°F)

INSTALLATION
1. Installation is the reverse of removal.

NOTE: After installation, make sure there is no unusual noise or vibration when the fan is rotating.
