P0456
TROUBLESHOOTING FOR DTCP0442 - P0456:
NOTE:
- If DTC P0455 is stored and MIL is illuminated, before proceeding to evaporative system test and repair, verify whether the customer was running the engine during refueling.
- If an obvious cause for DTC P0455 is an engine running during refueling, erase the DTC P0455 using Hi-Scan and do not repair the evaporative system. However, the vehicle should be monitored to find reoccurrence of the concern which may come from actual evaporative system.
- If any codes relating to FTPS, CCV or PCSV circuits are present, do all repairs associated with those codes before proceeding with this troubleshooting procedure.
- Emphasize the following Caution to customers to prevent concern causing unnecessary repairs.
CAUTION:
- Always stop engine before refueling.
- If you open the fuel filler cap when engine is running, it is possible that ECU detects evaporative emission large leak (DTC P0455) and allow MIL to illuminate even if the evaporative emission system is normal (no leak).
