Reprogramming, Auto., TCU Trouble Code Erase Procedures

REPROGRAMMING PROCEDURE





1. Remove the program card from the upper slot of the Hi-Scan Pro and insert the reprogramming card.





2. Connect the Hi-Scan Pro to the OBD II connector located under the dash on the driver's side.

AUTOMATIC REPROGRAMMING PROCEDURE





3. Turn ignition key to the "ON" position.

4. Turn the Hi-Scan Pro on and select option "16. RIO 1.6D COLD STARTABILITY" and press the "ENTER" key.





5. Select "01. RIO 1.6D COLD START ABILITY [AUTO]" and press the "ENTER" key.





6. At the prompt, enter the password "0525" and press the "ENTER" key.





7. Programming will proceed automatically as shown.





8. When the "REPROGRAMMING COMPLETED" message is displayed, the reprogramming is completed.

9. Turn the ignition key off, wait 20 seconds and then restart the engine to verify normal operation, proceed to Step 10 to erase ECU and TCU trouble codes.

Waiting less than 20 seconds may cause reprogramming failure.





* NOTICE
If this message is displayed on the Hi-Scan Pro, check connection between the vehicle and the Hi-Scan Pro.

* NOTICE
If the automatic reprogramming is interrupted, the manual reprogramming procedure must be used. See manual reprogramming instructions in this bulletin.

ECU TROUBLE CODE ERASE PROCEDURE





10. Turn the ignition key off, replace the reprogramming card with the standard diagnostic card and turn the ignition key to the "ON" position.

11. Select option "01. KIA VEHICLE DIAGNOSIS" and press the "ENTER" key.





12. Select option "01. RIO" and press the "ENTER" key.





13. Select the vehicle model year and press the "ENTER" key.





14. Select option "01. 1.6L DOHC (SIEMENS SYS) and press the "ENTER" key.





15. Select option "01. DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES" and press the "ENTER" key.





16. If the "P1693 TCM MIL REQUEST LINE MAL" code is present, select and press the "F2" key to erase the code.





17. Press the "YES" key on the Hi-Scan Pro.





18. If "NO TROUBLE CODE" is displayed, then the ECU trouble code has been erased.

19. If the vehicle is equipped with an automatic transmission, proceed to the next step. If the vehicle is equipped with a manual transmission, the programming is complete. Disconnect the Hi-Scan Pro and return vehicle to normal operating conditions.

TCU TROUBLE CODE ERASE PROCEDURE





20. Press escape twice to return to the "KIA VEHICLE DIAGNOSIS" menu. Select option "02. AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE" and press the "ENTER" key.





21. Select option "01. DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES" and press the "ENTER" key.





22. If the "P1800 ENGINE TORQUE SIGNAL P" code is present, select and press the "F2" key to erase the code.





23. Press "YES" key on the Hi-Scan Pro.





24. TCU trouble codes on the Hi-Scan Pro have been cleared. The reprogramming is complete. Turn off the ignition and the Hi-Scan Pro. Disconnect the Hi-Scan Pro and return vehicle to normal operating conditions.
