Wiper Motor Linkage: Service and Repair

4 DOOR

Link assembly

Removal
1. Remove wiper arms and blades. Refer to "Windshield Wiper/Washer System".
2. Remove wiper motor. Refer to "Windshield Wiper/Washer System".
3. Remove seven screws and four fasteners from cowl vent.




4. Remove cowl vent.
5. Remove four nuts from pivot shafts.




6. Slide link assembly out of driver's side access hole.

Installation
1. Slide link assembly into position through driver's side access hole.
2. Position pivot shafts in their holes and install mounting nut and bolts.




3. Extend link assembly fully and connect link slot to wiper motor ball joint.
4. Install wiper motor. Refer to "Windshield Wiper/Washer System".
5. Place cowl vent in position and install screws and fasteners.
6. Install wiper arms and blades. Refer to "Windshield Wiper/Washer System".




7. Check system movement. Wiper arms should stop 1.18 inch (30 mm) (Driver side) and 1.46 inch (37 mm) (Passenger side) from lower windshield edge.

5 DOOR

Link assembly

Removal
1. Remove wiper arms and blades. Refer to "Windshield Wiper/Washer System".
2. Remove wiper motor. Refer to "Windshield Wiper/Washer System".
3. Remove seven screws and four fasteners from cowl vent.




4. Remove cowl vent.
5. Remove four nuts from pivot shafts.




6. Slide link assembly out of driver's side access hole.

Installation
1. Slide link assembly into position through driver's side access hole.
2. Position pivot shafts in their holes and install mounting nut and bolts.




3. Extend link assembly fully and connect link slot to wiper motor ball joint.
4. Install wiper motor. Refer to "Windshield Wiper/ Washer System".
5. Place cowl vent in position and install screws and fasteners.
6. Install wiper arms and blades. Refer to "Windshield Wiper/Washer System".




7. Check system movement. Wiper arms should stop 1.18 ± 0.08 inch (Driver side) and 1.46 ± 0.08 inch (Passenger side) from lower windshield edge.
