TITLE: A/C Electrical Troubleshooting Guide
APPLIES TO: 02 Spectra
SERVICE TIP:
The 2002 Spectra has two different A/C kits based on vehicle production date. Use the following troubleshooting steps and charts to help diagnose A/C system electrical concerns:
1. Verify concern
2. Check A/C system state of charge
3. Verify if this is an A/C Kit, or factory installed A/C System (some non-factory A/C vehicles had an ECM installed that would not support A/C)
4. Verify production date, A/C kit part number, and ECM part number
5. Check scantool current data (#20) A/C compressor status (on or off), and (#21) A/C switch status (on or off)
6. Check voltage with BOB on ECM pin 57, pin 69, and pin 75
7. Compare to actual Terminal Reference Table A or B, depending on production date of vehicle
(A) *Terminal Reference Table for Vehicles with P/D before 11-01-01
1 System uses a 2 pin differential switch on dryer
2 ECM Part # 0K2NA 18 881
3 A/C Kit P/N-K0BB3 61 020 (4DR), K0BB4 61 020 (5DR)
4 A/C System uses "black" color Thermocon connector
(B) *Terminal Reference Table for Vehicles with P/D after 11-01-01
1 System uses a 4 pin differential switch on liquid line into dryer
2 ECM Part # 0K2NA 18 881A
3 A/C Kit P/N- K0BB3 61 020A (4DR), K0BB4 61 020A (5DR), P/D-11-01-01 through 4-22-02
A/C Kit P/N- K0BB3 61 020B (4DR), K0BB4 61 020B (5DR), P/D-after 4-22-02
4 A/C uses "grey" color Thermocon connector
